Shopify agencies in Hong Kong: choose a partner for your brief

Published by Lyfar Studio, which offers services covered in this guide.

Last reviewed: .

A shop can need a new product display while its catalogue and checkout already work. Before hiring a Shopify agency in Hong Kong, decide how much of the store needs to change.

  • Match the agency’s evidence to your brief: a custom interaction, a migration or a connection to your retail systems.
  • Compare what your staff can maintain after delivery, alongside what the customer sees.

This shortlist uses Lyfar’s documented work and the other providers’ published project records. The recommendations describe which briefs those records support.

Wave Commerce and InsCoder both have Hong Kong listings in Shopify’s partner directory. Those listings establish their presence there; project evidence still needs to match your requirements. Wave Commerce , InsCoder .

Where Lyfar fits

In the Fidget Book prototype , three illustrated hands carry products around the screen. Selecting a candy animates the scene; a separate link opens its normal Shopify product page. The interesting part for a merchant is how the scene gets its content.

The owner chooses a collection and assigns each product’s scene artwork through a field called Fidget Book Art. Ordinary product-gallery images stay separate. Removing that artwork removes the item from the scene on the next page load. The owner can change the display through Shopify without asking a developer to reposition every product.

This is an independent development-store prototype. It demonstrates a custom theme app extension and its editing workflow, rather than a merchant launch or a sales result.

For a custom feature, work with me at Lyfar on the behaviour your product needs and how you will maintain it. Start with one representative product and the hardest interaction. Establish how the feature behaves before commissioning the full catalogue treatment.

The artwork deserves its own scope. In this prototype, transparent margins around the candy made it appear to float above the fingers. The positioning had to follow the visible shape. If a proposal includes a custom visual display, ask who prepares those assets and how a newly added product gets the same treatment.

When migration or retail integration drives the choice

Wave Commerce’s DETERMINANT case describes a Shopify Plus transition, a Singapore storefront rollout and loyalty implementation. That makes it a relevant provider to approach when those operational changes are central to your project. Ask to see the migration plan and the responsibilities shared with your internal team. InsCoder’s published services include custom integrations and POS setup. Its Patagonia example gives you a concrete starting point for a retail discussion. Ask which system controls stock, how often updates move between systems and what staff do when an order fails to sync. InsCoder’s Shopify profile .

These questions matter more than whether a homepage resembles your brand. A supplier should be able to explain the difficult transaction in your business using an example you can follow.

Agree on the size of the change

Ask each agency to identify the proposed approach in ordinary language. Is it configuring a theme, changing a template, building an app block or replacing the storefront? Require a reason for the choice.

Shopify’s theme app extensions can add dynamic elements through the theme editor without requiring the merchant to edit theme code. Compatibility with your installed theme and the intended placement still needs checking. Shopify’s extension documentation .

A custom product scene alone doesn’t justify replacing the entire site. If a developer proposes a separate storefront, ask which requirement needs it and what new maintenance your team would take on. If you are still deciding between platforms, use the Shopify versus SHOPLINE guide before requesting build quotes.

Make the acceptance test part of the brief

Give each shortlisted agency the same small set of real tasks. Add a product with its actual options. Change its price. Mark it unavailable. Complete a purchase using the payment method your customers need, then process a refund.

For an interactive feature, check it on a real phone. Make sure the customer can reach the product without guessing the gesture. Test a long product name and a missing image. Decide what happens when motion is paused.

For a migration, provide a sample of old URLs and customer records. Ask for a mapping of where they go and a way to check the transfer before switching the live domain. For a POS connection, test a sale and return across the systems involved.

The proposal should name who owns the store account and custom source files. List recurring app charges separately from build work. Agree on the support period, the owner of future updates and a recovery route if a release breaks a working shop.

Send me your current store and the feature you want to change . Include one product that makes the problem clear.
